Lead Actress of Award-winning "Clueless" and Entrepreneur, Alicia Silverstone, and Theranos Whistleeblower, Erika Cheung, are the first 2 female speakers announced for Open Circles 2019.

The first Open Circles speakers have been announced, and they are two influential, inspirational women hoping to make the world a better place – Alicia Silverstone and Erika Cheung.

23rd May 2019 - Open Circles, an invite-only modern retreat event for leaders around the world, has announced its first two speakers for this year’s event – two women who are using their respective influence to effect positive change for a better tomorrow. They are Hollywood actress and entrepreneur Alicia Silverstone of “Clueless” fame, and Erika Cheung, one of the main whistleblowers that helped expose medical fraud by healthcare company Theranos. Both women will be speaking to the Open Circles community of global leaders, visionary entrepreneurs, social innovators, investors, and creative pioneers at this year’s event.

Known for her roles in iconic movies like “Clueless” and “Batman & Robin”, and television show “American Woman”, Silverstone has become a household name around the world. She is a proud vegan, having published a vegan cookbook, ‘The Kind Diet.’ She also co-created mykind Organics , which prides itself on being the first vegan supplement line that’s certified organic, non-GMO verified, and free of synthetic fillers and binders. For Open Circles, Silverstone will be sharing her insights on conscious living, environmental conservation, and her

approach to building a kinder world.

“We are extremely thrilled that Ms Silverstone will be headlining Open Circles 2019. She has been an incredible role model ever since her breakout movie roles. An actress, author, and environmentalist who is determined to use her platform to spark positive change, Alicia’s values are very much in line with Open Circles’,” said Ms Ho

Kheng Lian, Co-Founder of Open Circles.

“When we bring influential figures like Ms Silverstone to Open Circles, we want the interaction and exchange of

ideas with members of the Open Circles community to foster future partnerships,” she added.

Joining Silverstone will be Erika Cheung, who was notably one of the whistleblowers who helped uncover the malpractices by multibillion-dollar Silicon Valley unicorn Theranos. Her report subsequently led to the shutdown of Theranos’ clinical lab which prevented the company from providing false medical results to thousands of patients. She is also behind Ethics in Entrepreneurship, an organization that seeks to help other entrepreneurs from falling to a similar fate as Theranos. Her story has been covered by international publications like South China Morning Post

and CNN.

Recognizing the importance of ethical business practices, Cheung will share the lessons learned from the Theranos fraud episode, her vision for an ethical future, as well as ethics guidelines for businesses.

“We knew we had to have Ms Cheung as a speaker at Open Circles after reading about her brave journey, and we are excited that she will be joining this year’s event. Her story is an incredible one, and what Erika stands for is extremely relevant in today’s world. I strongly believe that the Open Circles community, many of whom are leaders in their field, will benefit from learning from Ms Cheung,” said Ms Joanne Liew, Producer & Program Director of Open Circles.

Open Circles prides itself in its carefully curated community. Interested attendees have to go through a strict interview with the community curators before they are allowed to buy tickets. Community members are venture capitalists, family offices, visionary entrepreneurs, creative pioneers, and key opinion leaders in various fields. Only 100 new members are accepted across the globe each year.

Open Circles will happen on 20 June 2019 to 23 June 2019 in Canggu, Bali, Indonesia. Parties interested to be part of the community may visit www.open-circles.co for more information.
